Investigating and Documenting Evidence of the Paranormal
The Orb in a Jar Experiments

If you have read my essays "Contact" and "Crisis of Faith", both on the blog page, you know that I have had some pretty intense experiences with orbs and some intensely emotional feelings about whether they are real or not.
Many paranormal investigators discount orbs as dust or lens flare in photographs and video clips, and rightly so in many instances. Dust and what appear to be true light anomalies have much in common, and often we are eager to say that dust particles are orbs because they look so similar, but I have come to feel that the almost collective position to ignore them has become so extreme among investigators and researchers that we might be missing possible intelligent and interactive first contact by trying so hard not to fool ourselves into thinking that they are something that they are not. The fact of the matter is that orbs have a long and well-documented history far before modern cameras and recording equipment. Video recording as a medium, though, is allowing us to analyze more thoroughly what we do catch, and I am very interested in defining some clear differences between dust and actual light anomalies so that we have a standard for what we can accept and what we should not.

On this page, I am going to add some orb clips that I have caught over the years and also talk a bit about my Orb in the Jar experiments, which are ongoing. It struck me while I was thinking and writing about orbs one night, that if I could show actual intelligent interaction, and be able to repeat it, that might be a start on the path to verify whether or not we should include unidentified light anomalies as a valid topic of study for paranormal research and discussion and then perhaps as valid evidence for our experiences.
So, I thought to myself, why don't I see if I can get one to go through something? For instance, a closed glass jar. Dust can't go through glass only around it. Granted, this isn't a terrifically sophisticated experiment, and I don't have the budget for sophisticated equipment, but it should show whether orbs can be communicated with, if they can follow directions and if they can go through an object that dust can't penetrate. Lots of ifs there, but that is how research always starts, isn't it? Ask the question and see if you can prove the answer. At this point, I don't have vacuum sealed chambers that are guaranteed dust free, but I am trying to be creative with what I do have. You can see if you think that I am on to anything.

If you have any comments on any of the clips or want to share your own orb story, please comment in the comments section below.

During an investigation at a hotel with well-documented activity you can see what appears to be an orb coming out of the throat or by the shoulder area of the investigator on the left. It is quick and faint, you might have to replay several times to catch it.

General Orb Clips
Using the Para4ce Polterscript, a tiny light anomaly appears to go into the face of it.

You may have to turn your audio way up for this one to hear an associated noise with the light anomaly
that goes from left to right at the top of the screen.

Immediately before a lengthy communication via a question-and-answer session, a tiny light anomaly can be seen weaving its way
through the chair slats, to the client's left side and then it appears on their right side.
We had the communication equipment set up on the counter on the right side, but it is out of frame.

Large light anomaly that this investigator saw as it moved through the stairway opening and landed on the stair rail. This photo has been edited to clear it up as it was taken with night vision and was difficult to see this level of detail on the original.

This was in an empty room while the investigator was in the back of the building. The light anomaly is big and perfectly round,
only visible for a second in the background over the curtain. There is a sound associated with this one as well.
No one had been in the room for some time.

The investigator who is speaking had seen movement in the doorway beyond right before this light anomaly appeared. There were no other anomalies captured during this event which would seem to decrease the chance that this is dust.
Orb in a Jar Clips

My first experiment. It was evident that an entity was in the room due to noises, etc., so I decided to see if I could catch any orb activity.
I was very directive, and the light anomaly seemed responsive to that. You will also see smaller anomalies going in a different direction outside the jar, which look more like dust to me, but I am uncertain as my magnification isn't sufficient to tell.

Same clip, slowed to 10%.

Second clip, same session. There appears to be light anomaly inside the jar that goes from about the halfway point towards the lid.

Second clip, slowed to 30%.
